IELTS Techniques to maximize your score
Save time and money by following the guidelines to ensure a good score. First and foremost, do not become overwhelmed by the amount of information accessible. If it were impossible, 3 million people would not accept it on an annual basis. Passing the IELTS depends not only on how excellent your English is, but also on how attentive you are when reading the assignments (often the formulation is deliberately difficult) and how quickly you prioritize your time throughout the test. Before you do anything else, acquaint yourself with the test format and answer sheet patterns.Read the structure of the test (above) and learn it
Create a learning approach.
Are you a self-taught learner? IELTS sample exams and IELTS tests from previous years are readily available. Look for free online classes or buy IELTS exam preparation resources.
Do you prefer to learn in a group or with a tutor? Look up the location of the nearest IELTS testing facility in your area. There are a variety of offline and online IELTS lessons available, some of which are held individually with an instructor and others in groups.
Setting appropriate objectives, but go for the stars!
It is not required to achieve a high score the first time; nevertheless, you can improve the following time. It is said that practice makes perfect. Make blunders. To avoid repeating the same errors over and over again, you must first understand why you make them.
Daily practice
Organize your studies into parts and set up time for them. Plan and prepare for 45 minutes of concentrated study time and 15 minutes of rest time. Put away all of your distracting gadgets and log off of social media. Don’t overlook any of the modules. As much time as possible should be set out for listening, reading, writing, and speaking. It is highly recommended that you concentrate on the Writing and Reading modules a little more since they will help you improve the other courses. When you take IELTS practice exams, you’ll learn how much you’ve studied and what level you’re at right now. Practice multitasking, such as listening to the recording while reading the questions and taking notes so you can develop responses later.
Read in the English language
Do you have trouble reading diagonally? That will be possible sooner than you think. What should I read? Journals, articles, and newspapers are all examples of this. Make certain you’re up to date on current events and concerns. Consider yourself ready if you’ve become used to reading a daily newspaper. As a result, your vocabulary and grammar will improve. To utilize synonyms, improve your vocabulary. Make sure you’re familiar with them. Using basic sentences and repeating words will not get you any extra points, and may even result in a bad score. Memorize 15 of your greatest practice words, phrases, and linking words and have them in your brain at all times. This will assist you in all of the test modules. Increase the pace with which you read. Set a timer for yourself when practicing the reading module at home. Don’t get too excited about the time; it will fly by throughout the exam. You will automatically score higher in the IELTS writing exam if you excel in reading first. The more you learn, the more you’ll be able to express yourself.
Make an effort to speak English aloud for at least 30 minutes each day.
Make a recording of yourself and listen to it. Record yourself on tape if necessary – the camera does not lie. You will hear your own pronunciation faults and blunders when listening to this recording. Use everything you’ve learned to help you get better. Find a native speaker to practice with if you can. There are several free tandem alternatives and programs available online for finding a language partner (to teach you English in exchange for teaching your original language).
Watch TV programmes and listen to podcasts
There are many outstanding television series, such as F.R.I.E.N.D.S. in its original version with English subtitles. Master it till you don’t need the subtitles any more. Consider yourself ready once you can view movies without subtitles.
Play video games that require you to have active dialogues in English with your teammates.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, World of Warcraft, and DotA! For your own benefit, switch to the American servers! You are making a sacrifice for the IELTS.
Learn how to approach the exam.
It is strongly advised that you skim over the entire text/exercise first and highlight the terms that you feel will receive the most attention. This will aid you in navigating to the question-and-answer later on, as well as unconsciously dividing the content into sections. To get the solution, use the question’s keywords. Make a detailed outline for your written responses and stick to it. On the written component, structured writing earns higher points.
Pay close attention and read the questions twice.
It’s not uncommon for an answer to be concealed inside the question itself. Read the instructions carefully and refer to the example whenever possible. Don’t forget to look through the sample questions and answers.
Answer just the questions that are asked.
There isn’t any more, and there isn’t any less. Do not stray from the topic, and do not exceed the time limit. It’s acceptable if you get 2 or 3 points for your argument. Don’t go overboard. Unless you are expressly asked to provide numerous alternatives, provide only one answer.
Remove any unnecessary noise.
IELTS is all about finding relevant answers amid a sea of information. The assignments will be lengthy and intimidating, but don’t let that deter you — your sole incentive should be to uncover the answers to those questions.
Transfer responses from the answer sheet to the ‘original’ sheet of paper.
This also necessitates time and space use efficiency.
If you have time, go through your answers again.
We’re all human, so we could miss something. When in doubt, make rational guesses. Don’t forget to fill in the blanks. Make sure your grammar, spelling, and penmanship are all in order. If your writing is unclear, it will be deemed incorrect by default. If the structure of your response is not grammatically accurate, it may be deemed incorrect. Less is more in this case! If you’re unsure, stick to brief, precise responses.
Think of the IELTS exam like a job interview.
Before the test, get plenty of rest, arrive early, and put on your finest smile and clothes.
Take a seat in the first three rows of the hearing exam if possible.
Those rows, according to experience, offer the best audio access. Pay close attention. If you forget anything, put it aside and go on to the next activity.
Do not be concerned.
Maintain your composure and composure. Get some chocolate and some water (outside of classroom). Maintain a typical level of fluency. If you get a good grade, that’s fantastic. If you don’t, that’s fantastic. It’s time to practice and learn; it’s not the end of the world, and IELTS has no time restriction for retakes.
Be yourself
The interaction with the IELTS instructor would be more attractive and pleasant if you are calm and yourself.
